Stokesia

Stokesia are unusual perennials that originally hail from light pine forests in the southeast of North America. They attract attention with their striking, fringed-edged flowers that bloom throughout the summer and attract a multitude of pollinators.

In our gardens, they thrive best in a warm and sunny location with well-drained soil. They don't do well in winter dampness, so good drainage is key. In a flower bed, they perfectly complement other drought-tolerant perennials or ornamental grasses.

If you have heavy or damp soil, you can easily grow Stokesia in larger containers as well. This gives you a lovely, low-maintenance flowering plant for your terrace, which you can simply move under cover during winter to protect it from excess moisture.
