Amsonia

Amsonia is among the very rewarding and long-lived perennials that reliably last for many years in flower beds. They originally come from the eastern regions of North America, where they naturally grow in slightly damp grassy plains. They bring a refreshing flood of tiny, azure-blue flowers to the spring garden, which appear at the turn of May and June. During the season, they form neat green bushes that change beyond recognition with the arrival of autumn. Their leaves turn vibrant yellow to orange shades, adding a warm atmosphere to the garden before winter sets in. These are plants that do not need complicated care and can grow in one place for a very long time. We grow well-rooted seedlings in pots, which take hold easily after transplanting. They thrive best in a sunny spot in ordinary loamy soil, to which you can add a little compost for better moisture retention. In drier months, they will appreciate occasional watering to keep their fresh appearance throughout the season.
