Red valerian is a tirelessly blooming perennial that originates from the sunny Mediterranean. It naturally grows on dry slopes, which makes it an absolutely undemanding plant. In your garden, it will be happiest in full sun in well-drained loamy or sandy soil. It can also handle drier and poorer spots, making it a great choice for sunny beds, where it will also attract plenty of pollinators. Its tiny flowers somewhat resemble oregano and are carried on succulent stems. For us, it is a very popular filler material for cut bouquets. Its airy look nicely complements more striking flowers, and it looks great in a vase for quite a long time.
